Prepare yourself for a lot of photos! Not sure what got into me, but I had a hard time narrowing down what to include in the preview, so I just went with it! 🙂
Sweet Jax (AKA Jackson) celebrated his 1st birthday yesterday afternoon at home with family and friends. The weather looked like it might play some tricks on us, but we really lucked out with just a couple raindrops and very pleasant temperatures. As you’ll see, water toys were a great source of entertainment for Jax and his 1 year old buddies. Jax and friends enjoyed the new water table (a birthday present from his uncle), and there was also a blow-up pool nearby.
Jax’s mama knew that he really liked sugar cookies, so she had Publix make a smash cookie for him instead of the traditional smash cake. That was definitely a smart decision, and I think he ate a third of it! He was very thoughtful and shared bites with both parents. I opted to spare his mama and not share the pictures that show icing smeared on her face from his great aim. Sarah, you can thank me later! 🙂
There are lots of things I really, really like about photographing birthday parties. One of the top reasons is that everyone tends to be a little more relaxed because they are there for a party– they know that they’re going to have fun! This creates an opportunity for me to really capture natural, happy moments between family members or as a child interacts in his normal environment. It’s really a win-win for everyone.
Maybe Jax was trying to start a game of bobbing for apples?
Checking it out…
Sharing some cookie with his daddy.
As you can see, sugar cookies are quite popular with the birthday boy!
After a quick rinse in the pool and an outfit change (necessitated by the cookie-eating), he was ready to pose for a few portraits.
