What to Wear: November/December

Eek, sorry I’m so slow to get this out.  Sessions have seriously slowed down with the holidays approaching (my last session of 2011 was on Saturday!), but I figure it can’t hurt to have a little wardrobe inspiration anyway.  Maybe you and your fam can snuggle up and take some nice Christmas Eve photos or something. 🙂

Sloane | Nashville newborn photographer

While visiting with Sloane’s family yesterday morning, I learned a fun fact– she was born on her parents’ 5th wedding anniversary!  How special is that?  I can’t think of any better way to celebrate a happy milestone like that than to welcome a precious baby. I know the three of them are so thankful for one another, and there is no doubt their extended family is also thrilled with their first grandbaby.  She is sweet as can be, and as you’ll see below, Sloane is a really beautiful baby.

{Just as a side note for expecting mothers– I typically like to photograph in the first 5-10 days of a baby’s life.  At that point, the baby is much more sleepy and cuddly, which makes the session go a bit smoother. If you schedule a newborn session with me, please keep this in mind and then keep me up to date when you head to the hospital so we can adjust accordingly!  🙂  Sloane’s session was originally scheduled for that time frame, but we had to reschedule due to illness (on my part).  Though she was 2.5 weeks old when I photographed her, she was really a champ and I was really pleased with the sleeping images we were able to get!}

Maggie (and her new dress)

“I got Maggie this adorable dress, so we have to schedule a time for you to take pictures of her in it!”

This is what Maggie’s mom told me a few weeks ago at church.  Music to my ears!  A fabulous new dress on one of my favorite subjects?  I’m in!  I went over to their home this afternoon to see Miss Maggie.  Their Christmas tree was set up, of course, which provides a fun backdrop AND a source of entertainment.  I love holiday decorations.  I love babies.  Put them together, and you get a good afternoon.

Sophie | Nashville newborn photographer

Sophie’s mom and I first met in a prenatal water aerobics class in 2009 when she was pregnant with Emma (Sophie’s big sister) and I was pregnant with my little guy, Matthew.  Since then, we’ve kept up through Facebook.  I was excited for their family when I heard that she was expecting again!

Baby Sophie was not very interested in sleeping today (or last night either, according to her mom).  In fact, I bet her eyes were closed maybe 20 or 30 minutes out of the 2.5 hours I was there! Since she was so awake, she wasn’t terribly interested in me posing her a lot of different ways.  That’s ok, though, because I still think we got some really adorable photos.  I’m also totally obsessed with my new blanket that she’s lying on in the first two photos.  Check out this first one, which is probably my favorite from the session:

Wait, maybe this next one is my favorite.  She looks so peaceful.

Check out that pose and little smile!

Currie family | Nashville family photographer

This family also met me yesterday and got to enjoy that glorious weather.  Turns out their little guy was born the day before my Matthew was (both two years ago).  They also go to the same Mother’s Day Out program.  Isn’t that funny?  Anyway, he had a great time climbing up and down the stairs (and up and down and up and down… you get the idea). 🙂  Their sweet two month old baby girl was a champ the whole time.  She didn’t make a peep, and she definitely impressed me by making eye contact several times.
