Kate’s baptism

Precious Kate was baptized on Easter Sunday– talk about a great day to be baptized and bringing newness into your life!  I took a few photos of the family post-service, and then met Kate and her mama today to do some actual portraits of Kate in her dress.  Kate was just so perfect today and during her baptism– she is one happy baby!  Now let me TELL you about that dress.  Kate’s maternal grandmother made it for her granddaughters to wear, so Kate’s cousin wore it a couple years ago for her own baptism.   I honestly don’t have the slightest clue how you even begin to go about making something that exquisite.  We actually were stopped by a few people today who couldn’t resist seeing the dress up close.

When she wasn’t trying to stick her fingers in her mouth today, Kate was grinning because her mama would start singing “You are My Sunshine.”  (That’s a favorite at my house, too.)  So, so sweet.  Love this family.

Ok, this is some serious posing, don’t you think??

Adrian’s 1st birthday

Adrian turned one a few days ago, so his family and friends gathered yesterday to celebrate.  Though he was a little quiet when I first arrived, Adrian was full of life and energy as the party really got started!  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, eating, chatting, and playing.  There was no shortage of laughter or smiles that afternoon, which is exactly how a birthday party should be!  Adrian wasn’t terribly crazy about his cake, and immediately smeared it on his highchair and clothes instead of eating it!  It was pretty funny.  Seeing how 1 year olds handle their smash cake always amuses me.  I’m pretty sure I’ve seen just about every reaction– from thrilled and digging in to sobbing.

You may recognize this sweet face– it’s Adrian’s “girlfriend,” Lissie, whose birthday I photographed not too long ago.

Brown family | Franklin family photographer

One of my dear friends, Laura, sent her brother-in-law and his family my way for a shoot today while they were visiting from out of town.  Though it started out a bit chilly at 9:00am, it warmed up surprisingly quickly!  The Browns opted to bring a change of clothes– which is always an option for a full shoot with me– so they could have some dressy pictures and some more casual.  The four of them all did a great job!

Sawyer | Nashville newborn photographer

You may remember Mindy and Barry from a few weeks back.  Well, their sweet little guy made his debut last Friday.  Amazingly, Mindy worked (as a teacher) until two days before her due date (Saturday).  That is serious dedication.

Sawyer was hands-down the best newborn sleeper I’ve ever had for a session!  I actually lost count of how many different set-ups and props we got to use because he was so awesome… and out cold.  I’m sure it was a combination of fabulous genes, the toasty house (they listened to my advice and cranked up the heat!), and a full tummy.  Mindy had tons of ideas, thanks to Pinterest, so it was fun figuring out ways we could try some similar shots.  (I’ll write a post soon about how doing this is fab for a shoot in my opinion.)  Without further ado, here is Sawyer:

Mini sessions and big reveals!

My little mini session with Matthew the other day got me thinking… that would be a great idea for clients!  I offer mini sessions year round at select locations in the downtown Franklin area.  Want photos of a certain big announcement (like I did)?  Maybe you want a fun way to reveal the baby’s gender or the fact that you are expecting at all.  A mini session would be perfect for that!  I have two different chalkboards that we can use to share your wonderful news.

One of the funniest things for me was picking the photo I’d use for our family’s announcement.  Matthew’s little personality is really evident in these, which I love.  Picture your older child(ren) being a part of this, and think about what a special thing it would be to include them in the reveal!  If you don’t have older children, you and your husband (or even one of your parents!) could be the ones with the sign.

As with most mini sessions, we’d focus first on getting the one specific shot you want (the “big reveal,” wiggly tooth, gorgeous Easter dresses, etc.)  Once that’s done, any remaining time in the session can be spent getting any other combination of family shots you’d like!

If this sounds like something you’d like to do, click on the “Get in Touch” tab at the top and send me a message!

Love his tousled curls/wild hair!Crinkly nose?  Yes, please!  This is what I got when I asked for a silly smile. 🙂

Ultimately, this is what I went with.  Clean, classic, nice smile.  It was a tough choice, though!
