Charlotte: 6 months | Franklin, TN baby photographer

Charlotte’s session was originally scheduled for yesterday morning, but we were rained out and moved to today.  According to her mama, that was a good thing because she wasn’t feeling too good yesterday.  None of that was apparent today, as Charlotte smiled and interacted beautifully.  She has such a sweet temperament, and I love how expressive she is with her eyebrows!  It was great to see this family again.

I was trying to decide our next place to stop, when I spotted this little area hidden off to the side of the park with wildflowers.  I walked ahead to scout it out and realized that we were going to make some magical photographs here.  Gorgeous light, beautiful scenery, and precious baby = hard to beat.

We were walking towards this beautiful area (seen below), and I immediately had this image in my mind.  I even love her serious expression. So beautiful.

Ava: 7 months | Franklin, TN baby photographer

I started paying attention to the weather forecast on Wednesday for the weekend, and I became concerned.  They were predicting rain all day on Saturday.  On Thursday, they were repeating that same forecast, so I started scrambling to reschedule my three sessions.  As Friday rolled around, the forecast changed to being clear after lunchtime, so I ended up moving the two morning sessions and keeping Ava’s afternoon session as is.  Man, oh man, did we luck out!  The temperature was perfect, the sun was shining, and there was a light breeze.  I couldn’t have ordered more beautiful weather if I tried.  Fingers crossed it is like that again tomorrow for the other two sessions.

Ava did a great job during our shoot!  She was such a sweet little girl.  Look at her gorgeous eyes!  We went to Harlinsdale Farm/Park in Franklin, which is a really gorgeous location because it has such a wide variety of scenery.  You may have just seen me use this basket with newborn Abigail last week.  Well, I thought it would be fun to try with an older baby.  I loved how it turned out.  I actually have this basket in a bigger size (both in white and brown) that would be fun to try with a 9-12 month old baby!  Speaking of, I have an 11 month old in my house… maybe he needs to have a little photo shoot soon. 🙂

Abigail: 8 days old | Nashville, TN newborn photographer

I went to meet Abigail yesterday at her home in Nashville.  Fun fact: Abigail’s mom, Jaime, and I went to middle school and high school together in Knoxville! I commented to Jaime something that I’ve been thinking about for a while– I really enjoy getting to see or hear about former classmates happily settled as adults.  Furthering their education, married, successful in their career, having kids, etc. Being able to follow and keep up with so many people all around the country is definitely one of Facebook’s pluses. It was fun getting to see her and meet her precious little one. As you all have learned by now, I love figuring out who babies look like.  Well, this one was pretty easy– Abigail is totally a daddy’s girl!

Abigail had no interest in sleeping for a while!   She wasn’t fussy in the least, but would instead just look at me, yawn, and then look at me again while I swayed and shushed her.  She eventually gave in, as you’ll see, and I put her through the paces getting a great variety of shots.  Since my last newborn shoot, I had acquired a new white metal basket (a TJ Maxx/HomeGoods find!) and two new fabric backdrops, so I was excited to get to put them to use!

Jaime bought this headband and bloomer set from Etsy.  So sweet!

This is a new pose I’m using, and I LOVE IT. I seriously wish I had an image like this of myself with my boys as newborns. So simple and classic.

Soon to be a family of 5: The Landrys | Nashville, TN family photographer

I did something totally new tonight, which was fun.  I rented some studio space from another photographer in Nashville to use for the session in order to accommodate a very pregnant mama.  Today’s weather was pretty hot and uncomfortable, so I thought using a studio might provide a nice reprieve from the heat. She only has three weeks left, so we were trying to squeeze this session in before baby brother or sister (they didn’t find out!) arrives.  We spent about half of the session inside and half of it outside.  Without further ado, here’s the soon-to-be family of 5!

I can’t resist leaving you with this outtake.  I love it.

Mother’s Day | Franklin, TN family photographer

This is only 3 months late being posted.  Ha!  One of my Mother’s Day requests was to go out and take photos in a field I came across in Franklin, so my husband, boys, and I headed out that evening near sunset.  Since it was a totally last minute thing, I wasn’t able to coordinate our outfits quite like I’d normally want to.  I had to work with what we had on hand. 🙂 Regardless, I’m so thankful to have these.  Mamas, I imagine you may normally be the one holding the camera at family events.  It is SO important for you to get in front of the camera, though.  I took my own advice and handed things over to my husband or used my remote clicker (a genius device!).  It only seemed right on MOTHER’S Day, you know?
