*Just a reminder that I don’t show whole-family photos between now and Christmas because I know many plan to use those for gifts or Christmas cards.*

These boys are so funny.  They were total hams and very engaged in the process of the shoot.  I love how we have individual images of them in the same set-up, yet they each express so much personality.  It’s entirely possible that little brother Graham steals the show with his pose, though (in particular, the way he is holding his feet!)   Scroll down and you’ll see what I’m talking about.  We had a great time together yesterday afternoon!  So thankful for the sunshine.

I’ve known Miss Kate, who just turned 3, since she was in her mama’s tummy. In fact, she was my second-ever maternity shoot! So funny. This family is near and dear to ours, so I love getting to capture moments for them. They are eagerly anticipating a little brother for Kate, who is due to arrive in just a few weeks!  You’re going to see a really fun variety of images below. Everything from posed to candid to very “Kate” faces (you’ll know it when you see it!) We had a good time playing, as you can tell!

I rounded out my trio of shoots yesterday with this family, who are as sweet as they come. One of the things I love about them is that they really encourage their kiddos (especially big brother Jax) to do the things they enjoy. I learned in their on contract that Jax is on a kick where he likes to be called Detective Jackson, and they talk about him being “on the case.” He brought his hat, shovel, and other supplies along on our shoot so he could do some digging for clues, as you’ll see below. On a prior shoot I did with them, Jax brought along a bucket and we collected items at the park. I just love how they support his interests and creativity.

Speaking of my contract– there is a section where it says, “Anything else I need to know?” which is where Jax’s mama shared these details with me.  Lots of my clients do a great job telling me a tip, something their child loves, etc which ends up being a way to help me engage and connect with their child.  The better I can connect, the better the photos are.  That’s another reason why I ask clients to talk to their child(ren) prior to the session about coming to see me.  Feel free to show them my photo on Facebook or on my About Me page.  Tell them that we’re going to have fun and be silly with Ms. Elizabeth!  (I’d recommend doing this prior to the car ride to the session, of course.)

This was my second year working with this family, and this time they brought grandparents, who were in town visiting, along for part of the shoot! This is a great idea– my sessions include coverage for up to 5 individuals, and it is just $20 to add another person. How often do you get GOOD photos of your kids with their grandparents or of multiple generations together? I’d venture to say that it is probably pretty rare for the vast majority. I’m going to be offering gift certificates in time for Christmas this year… more details to come soon!

The Frisbees and I definitely froze this morning, but we were still able to end up with some really great images. I love working with families who like to just snuggle and love on each other!

I love Franklin. We’re talking, big fluffy heart LOVE Franklin. We’ve lived here for 5 years (plus 4 years in Nashville) and hope to be here forever. I do family shoots in Franklin weekly, but I had never done one on Main St. downtown prior to this morning. I’ve always stayed a few blocks off or been in nearby parks. When I got home from this shoot, I informed my husband that our family session next year was totally going to be like this one because I want our family documented in this place we love.

That is actually why this family chose this location, too. You see, they will be moving out of state soon, and they wanted photos that had distinctive Franklin backdrops. I wish I could share all of the fun whole-family images now, but as you know, I always keep those off previews this time of year because of Christmas cards and gifts!
